The Judson High School band will present a patriotic concert at the USS Bowfin Submarine Park in Honolulu, Hawaii as part of the Choice Music Events Remember The Heroes concert series. The concert will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2006.

The Judson Band is one of a few select ensembles invited to participate in this prestigious tribute to the men and women of the US Armed Forces. The Choice Music Events selection committee invited the Judson band based upon their long history of outstanding concert and marching performances. “When a band of this quality performs, it is heard not only by the people visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, but also by the military personnel and civilian employees that live and work at Naval Station Pearl Harbor,” said Jon Locke, President of Choice Music Events.

The band will also march in the Pan-Pacific Matsuri Parade in Waikiki at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2006.

In conjunction with their performances, the band will enjoy a six-day tour of the island of Oahu. Highlights include hiking in the Diamond Head crater, a tour of the North Shore, and an authentic Hawaiian luau. “The band directors have done a great job creating an itinerary that will offer the students the full Hawaii experience,” said Patrick Connor, President of Director’s Choice Tour and Travel, the travel company coordinating the trip.

“Planning a trip of this caliber is a lot of work, but it is worth the effort to offer the students this once-in-a-lifetime performance and educational opportunity,” said Dana Pradervand, Director of Bands at Judson High School.


Judson High School is part of the Judson Independent School District located in Converse, Texas. The 300 member band consistently receives superior ratings at UIL marching and concert contests in addition to numerous honors at nationally-recognized festivals and events.
